UPDATE: Potential Significant Winter Storm Thursday Into Friday Night

Local Update...
Significant Winter Storm Possible For Thursday Into Friday Night...

The National Weather Service In Burlington, VT has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Northern St. Lawrence Valley until 7AM for up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation. Other than that everything remains the same from the National Weather Service and JRWeather.
Currently across the Northern St. Lawrence temps are ranging from 25F-30F and with the rain falling, its freezing on contact with the surface. So this would be freezing rain. At Massena light freezing rain is being reported, with a temperature of 27.6F, and light freezing rain is falling at Ft. Covington with a temperature of 26F. I still am convinced that temperature will not rise above the freezing mark, across the Northern St. Lawrence Valley, and if they do, it will not be for very long at all, as a cold front will move across the area tomorrow. Precipitation should remain freezing rain/ sleet until late morning when a change over to sleet/ snow then all snow should occur. Additional Snow accumulations of a Trace - 2 inches is likely. By late tomorrow afternoon. Total ice accumulations should be up to a quarter inch before the change over to snow occurs late tomorrow morning. The rest of Northern New York, and Vermont should continue to see rain showers, with isolated area of freezing rain across Northeastern Vermont, these areas though should see a change over to all rain by early morning.
For the second storm, I have decided to postpone the next update on it until later in the day Wednesday, to see if the models can be more consistent before I post my predicted snowfall and ice accumulations. With the 00Z model runs it looks like the heaviest snow/ icing will occur across southern, and eastern Vermont. At this time I will continue the Winter Storm Watch for the entire region, until I can see further consistency. Updated maps below to reflect the National Weather Service Advisory for the Northern St. Lawrence Valley. Stay tuned...
