Light To Occasionally Moderate Snow Overspreading The Region Right Now...
The National Weather Service in Burlington, VT, and Albany, NY continue a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Vermont, and Northern New York, for the potential of 3-7 inches of snow. JRWeather continues its winter weather advisory for the Champlain Valley of Vermont, Northern, and Northeastern Vermont, as Well as the Champlain Valley of New York, and the St. Lawrence Valley of New York. All other areas under the Winter Weather Advisory have been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for the potential of 5-9 inches of snow. Just to remind you Winter Storm Warning criteria for snowfall from the National Weather Service is 6 inches or more in 12 hours, or 9 inches or more in 24 hours. JRWeather uses the same guidlines as the National Weather Service for issuing alerts.

Snow is beginning to overspread the region from Southwester to Northeast. A few changes have been made to my alerts to reflect the potential heavy snow banding. Radar already shows some significant narrow bands of heavy snow. The Atmosphere is currently rather dry, but once it moistens these bands of heavier snow that set up will produce some hefty snow totals, especially in the higher elevations and most notably the western slopes of the green mountains. Thus I have issued a Winter Storm Warning for some areas across the region. Even Central and Southern valley locations will need to monitored as these bands are setting of from West to East across the area. For Northern portions of Vermont, and New York the heavy snow banding will not be the same, some bands of heavier snow will sweep across the area, but wont be as significant as it will be across Central, and Southern Vermont. That about all that I need to add. Make sure to view the previous post for the details on the JRWeather & National Weather Service alerts. Updated accumulation map below. Stay tuned!
