Tempratures Falling Rapidly; Winter Weather Advisories Issued

Local Update...
Temperatures Drop 18 Degrees In 15 Minutes Across Highgate, And Swanton Vermont...

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Vermont, and Northern New York except for the Champlain Valley. For 3-6 inches of snow and some light icing. JRWeather has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Vermont and New York, including the Champlain Valley for 3-6 inches of snow with some light icing.
Currently the temperature in Swanton, VT is 32.2 this has dropped 16 degrees in a matter of minutes this morning. The same has occurred a few miles away in the town of Highgate. Winds have shifted to the north, which has helped push in cold air. Rain will change over to freezing rain and sleet, before changing over to snow later this morning. The snow may be heavy at times, and a rapid freeze over is likely to occur. The Champlain Valley will see snow accumulations of only 1-3 inches, but with the rapid freeze expected, and light ice accumulations I issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Valley as well. The rest of the area will see the same conditions throughout the day, with higher snow totals in the 3-6 inch range. Use extreme caution if traveling this morning. New maps have been issued. More on the next storm later today. Stay tuned...
