JRWeather WINTER STORM WARNING
JRWeather Has Issued A Winter Storm Warning For Rutland, Windsor, Bennington, and Windham Counties in Vermont From 3PM This Afternoon Until 11AM Sunday Morning.
A low pressure system near the Arkansas/ Missouri line will continue to push east-northeast and track from its current location to off the coast of NJ, along the Southern Shore of Long Island, NY, up by Cape Cod, MA, and then near the Canadian Maritimes by Sunday Afternoon. This will bring accumulating snow, to much of the region. Recent model indications show that snow will overspread much more of the area then first thought, bringing heavier snow amounts further North. Thus a Winter Storm Warning has been issued and a Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for portions of Northern, and Central Vermont.
Light snow will develop by this afternoon, and become moderate to heavy. The moderate to heavy snow is forecast to last into the early morning hours Sunday before tapering off by Sunday late morning or early afternoon. Total snow accumulations will range from 5-9 inches.
A Winter Storm Warning is issued when severe winter weather is likely. In this case the Winter Storm Warning is for moderate to heavy amounts of snow. Travel will become hazardous late this afternoon into tonight, as snowfall rates could reach 1-2 inches per hour for a time, reducing visibilities to a quarter mile or less at times. If you must travel, use extreme caution. If possible postpone your plans until Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned for further updates.
